Everest Base Camp
Our Trek to Everest Base Camp differs from all the rest by doing a less travelled loop going up the Thame Valley towards Tibet, crossing the Renjo Pass with spectacular views of Cho-Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. We then visit the Goyko Lakes and then cross the Cho-La entering the Khumbu Valley high near Everest.
Get your cameras ready to burn lots of film and mega pixels.
While Nepal is full of trek operators, you should consider the experience and safety of the company you choose. This will be Rick’s 30th trip to the Nepal Himalayas. He and Celia have vast experience with all aspects of going to high altitude. They know how to make this the trip of a lifetime for the high mountain enthusiast. We
always carry a Gamov Bag and while not fans of Diamox, we know how and when to use it, and while we will be on snow occasionally, there will be no need for ropes or crampons.
Rick and Celia have been working with Urgen Sherpa (Sherpa High Ambitions) for over twenty five years. Urgen’s staff is family with the Wilcox’s and IME. We would expect to have 10 Sherpa staff as cooks and guides, with another 40 to 50 to will work as porters, carrying our gear. This allows you to carry a small daypack and focus on taking in the specatacular scenery and taking photos.
Most nights will be spent in tents. While in
Namche Bazaar we will stay at the Jamling
Hotel. Tsedam Sherpa owns this hotel, as well as International Mountain Equipment Nepal! We stay at the best hotel in the Khumbu!
