Bolivia
This exciting 19 day trip, will feature the climbing of 4 Bolivian Peaks, Pequeño Alpomayo (5330mtrs.) Tarija (5240mtrs.), Piramide Blanca (5230 mtrs) Sajama, the highest mountain in Bolivia (6254mtrs.)! We have chosen Sajama for its remoteness, beauty and the availability a new Refuge Hut. This is a much less travelled and peaceful area compared to Huayna-Potosi.
Our trip will start by visiting the colorful street markets of Lapaz. We will then head to the Inca ruins of Tiwanaku and Isle Del Sol where we will do some enjoyable day hikes on the island.
We then return to Lapaz to pack for climbing in the Condorirri Group. We will camp near the toe of the glacier, next to a beautiful mountain tarn. We will then acclimatize by climbing Pequeño Alpomayo, Tarija and Piramide Blanca. There a routes for nearly all abilities on these incredible peaks.
Now it’s of for the big one, Sajama, the highest mountain in Bolivia (6254mtrs.)!
This year we are proud to be using this Expedition to help raise money for the Medical Clinic in the town of Chuñavi. IMCS will be donating a minimum of $500 per client to the Man-A-Mano (www.manoamano.org) Chuñavi Fund, a fund dedicated to the building of this medical clinic . Since 1997 Mano- A -Mano has built 130 such clinics throughout Bolivia. We will spend a day in Chuñavi visiting the clinic and the local people. We will also bring much needed school supplies, and clothing. Please contact us if you would like to donate.
IMCS guide Paul Cormier will be leading the trip. Paul has guided many successful south American Expeditions.
